Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on November 5, 2012 at 7:00 PM with Chairman Fred Ford presiding. Commissioners Bob Artman, Flo Mallonee, and Randy Paul were present; Steve Sipe was absent. Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky and Engineer Tom Wilson also attended. The session focused on active land development reviews and stormwater management matters.

• Piltz/Tobias land development accepted for review — The commission voted 4-0 to accept the plan for review, contingent on receipt of the plan fee and submission of a Stormwater Management Application.
• Sheetz zoning waivers approved — The commission voted 4-0 to waive three ordinance provisions for the Sheetz project: maximum lot coverage (§505.3.a), required parking spaces (§512.9f), and parking lot islands (§512.5), based on recommendations from HRG.
• Solar energy ordinance deferred — Review of a proposed SALDO amendment for solar energy installations was pushed to the next month's meeting.
• Lenker NPDES permit found in compliance — Engineer Tom Wilson reported the Lenker property appears to comply with the 1996 Halifax Township Comprehensive Plan and no planning commission action is necessary; the matter will go to the Township supervisors' November agenda.
• Bruner stormwater application requested — The commission recommended that a Stormwater Management Application and Plan be submitted and reviewed by the engineer before proceeding.
• Stormwater management ordinance amendment received — The commission reviewed a revised draft amendment that would exempt certain additional impervious cover from stormwater plan requirements, but the county must adopt the change before the township can amend its SALDO.
