Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on June 2, 2014, with Chairperson Flo Mallonee presiding alongside members Randy Paul, Dwight Hoffman, and Fred Ford. Engineer Tom Wilson and Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky were also present. The brief 46-minute session advanced four subdivision and land development matters, with all votes passing unanimously.

• Nancy Reed Subdivision: The commission recommended a time extension for the pending subdivision plan (4-0).
• Paulvir Subdivision: Approved four waivers and conditionally approved the subdivision plan, with a notable requirement that the plan be revised so that a well isolation distance does not encumber neighboring properties (4-0 on both votes).
• Quail Commons: Granted conditional approval based on two conditions from engineer Tom Wilson's review memorandum (4-0).
• Halifax High/Middle School: Approved seven waivers from standard subdivision requirements and conditionally approved the land development plan. A key condition requires an executed agreement ensuring Halifax Township bears no responsibility for — and is indemnified against — any stormwater management facilities within the PennDOT right-of-way (4-0 on both votes).
• Public inquiry (Kristen Rode): A resident asked the commission about acquiring a parcel from a neighbor to construct a pole building and what zoning regulations would apply. The commission explained the relevant rules and offered recommendations.
