Planning Commission
Summary
The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on March 5, 2012, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, with Chairman Fred Ford presiding. Members Flo Mallonee, Randy Paul, Bob Artman, and Tom Wilson were present; Steve Sipe and Bruce Warshawsky were absent. The one-hour session centered on two property development inquiries from residents and ongoing work on several ordinance updates.
- Scott Corsnitz sought guidance on building an agriculture building for equipment storage and cattle on 73.2 acres he is purchasing in the township. Discussion raised questions about stormwater management, land development regulations, and connection to nearby public water lines. Tom Wilson recommended the township solicitor weigh in on how land development rules apply to agricultural structures.
- Ameer Farhat inquired about constructing a storage building for a construction business on a property he is considering purchasing. Tom Wilson advised he would need a stormwater plan, a hookup to the public water system through the Halifax Water Authority, and an NPDES permit through the Dauphin County Conservation District.
- The commission agreed to prioritize incorporating the Flood Plain Ordinance back into the SALDO ahead of an August deadline, addressing other pending ordinances afterward rather than tackling everything at once.
- Chairman Fred Ford will conduct a detailed review of the Energy Ordinance and bring it back at a future meeting. Randy Paul noted the Light Ordinance should conform to IBC regulations, and Tom Wilson will gather sample sign ordinances from other municipalities for the commission to review.
