Planning Commission

Halifax Township's Planning Commission met on September 5, 2012, at 7:00 PM with Chairman Fred Ford presiding. Members Randy Paul, Bob Artman, Tom Wilson, and Bruce Warshawsky were present; Steve Sipe and Flo Mallonee were absent. The meeting covered one land development recommendation, a resident inquiry about building regulations, and ongoing ordinance work.

• Lenker plan recommended for approval (3-0): The commission unanimously recommended approval of the Lenker land development plan, contingent on the applicant addressing comments from Tom Wilson's August 14, 2012 engineering review. The solicitor will provide language regarding erosion and sedimentation controls.
• Pole building and stormwater regulations discussed: Resident Brad Bruner asked about regulations governing pole building construction, noting he had heard other municipalities may not apply the same requirements. Tom Wilson clarified that the township follows Act 167 Stormwater Management. The commission discussed a possible future streamlined stormwater application process with cursory engineer review and Board of Supervisors approval — no formal action was taken.
• Solar energy ordinance under continued review: The commission reviewed and discussed modifications to a Solar Energy System model ordinance under SALDO. No vote was taken; work on the ordinance will continue.
