Planning Commission

7:00 PM – 7:38 PM 6 present 5 motions

The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on September 3, 2014, with Chairman Flo Mallonee presiding alongside members Fred Ford, Randy Paul, Dwight Hoffman, and Bruce Warshawsky. Township engineer Tom Wilson was also present. The brief 38-minute session centered on a lot consolidation plan and several resident inquiries.

  • Schlegel lot consolidation recommended for approval (5-0): The Commission unanimously recommended approval of David and Shirley Schlegel's plan to combine two lots, contingent on compliance with engineer Tom Wilson's September 2, 2014 review memo addressing site-related comments.
  • Two subdivision waivers granted (4-0): The Commission recommended waiving the preliminary plan procedure (Section 404) and the contour interval requirement (Section 405.1.13) for the Schlegel plan.
  • Monuments required before recording (4-0): Physical monuments and/or markers must be placed on-site before the Schlegel plan can be recorded; the Board will not require future curbing or sidewalks on the property.
  • Septic issue at 1059 North River Road: Resident Doug Newman sought information about a property with a failing septic system. The solicitor advised the property would need to be re-perked and re-probed to current specifications and agreed to follow up with the Sewage Enforcement Officer.
  • Home catering business inquiry: A resident at 369 Dunkel School Road looking to start a catering business with a second kitchen was directed to contact engineering firm Light-Heigel for township guidance.
  • Camp Hebron activity: Engineering firm Scully and Loy contacted Tom Wilson regarding activity at Camp Hebron; Wilson directed them to attend a future Planning Commission meeting or submit a formal plan.
