Special: Budget Mtg

Halifax Township held a special budget adoption meeting on December 15, 2014, called to order at 7:02 PM and adjourned just ten minutes later at 7:12 PM. All five supervisors were present: Chairman Kenneth Bechtel, Brad Bruner, Randy Paul, Steve Schreffler, and Scott McBurney. The sole order of business was adopting the township's 2015 budget, which passed without opposition. Two residents used the brief public comment period to raise procedural questions about township finances.

• 2015 Budget adopted unanimously (5-0): Supervisors approved the 2015 Halifax Township budget as advertised in the Upper Dauphin Sentinel, on a motion by Brad Bruner, seconded by Randy Paul.
• Deputy Tax Collector is mandatory: Resident Melinda Warfel asked whether a Deputy Tax Collector must be appointed. Secretary Wendy Wentzel reported that Janis Creason of the Dauphin County Treasurer's Office confirmed the appointment is mandatory and that the appointee need not be a township resident.
• Excess fund carryover raised: Warfel also asked whether surplus monies could be rolled over into projects in the new fiscal year; no formal action was taken on the question at this meeting.
• Liquid Fuels funds confirmed as carrying over: Resident Flo Mallonee asked whether Liquid Fuels funds carry over year to year; it was confirmed that they can.
