Planning Commission

Called to order 7:00 PM 6 present 2 motions

The Halifax Township Planning Commission met on March 6, 2017 at 7:00 PM with Chairperson Flo Mallonee presiding. Members Dwight Hoffman, Randy Paul, and Chad Lebo were present; Fred Ford was absent due to hospitalization. Engineer Tom Wilson and Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky also attended. The session focused on a new commercial subdivision proposal and ongoing revisions to the township's land development ordinance.

  • River Road subdivision sketch plan (Farhat / A&Z Construction): Engineer/surveyor Tony Trost presented a sketch plan on behalf of Mr. Farhat of A&Z Construction to subdivide a River Road property into four commercial plots, each exceeding the required 1.5 acres. One plot would be designated for macadam (asphalt) manufacturing. The commission discussed the proposal but took no formal action; the project will require approvals from both PennDOT and DEP before advancing.
  • Private road standards and SALDO revisions: The commission continued its review of private road requirements in the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). After discussion with Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky and Engineer Tom Wilson, the commission agreed to require a minimum of 150 feet of road frontage and sight distance meeting current standards. Warshawsky will incorporate these additions along with other previously discussed SALDO changes and bring a revised draft to the April meeting.
