Planning Commission

The Halifax Township Planning Commission held its annual reorganization and first regular meeting of 2017 on January 4 at 7:00 PM. Members Flo Mallonee, Randy Paul, and Chad Lebo were present, along with Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky and Engineer Frank Lentz; Secretary Dwight Hoffman arrived late and Co-Chair Fred Ford was absent. The brief meeting focused on electing officers for the new year and continuing work on proposed subdivision regulations for private roads.

• Flo Mallonee re-elected Chairman for 2017, nominated by Chad Lebo and seconded by Randy Paul (3-0).
• Fred Ford and Dwight Hoffman retained as Co-Chair and Secretary, continuing in the same roles they held in 2016 (3-0).
• Subdivision on private roads discussed but not voted on: Solicitor Bruce Warshawsky and Engineer Frank Lentz provided clarification on proposed rules. The commission decided to bring the issue to the Township Supervisors for joint input before finalizing any changes, aiming for a decision that benefits both the township and the community.
• Private road lot limit under consideration: The commission's working position is that no more than four subdivided lots should be permitted on a private road, since five or more would trigger full land development review with preliminary and final submissions.
• SALDO revision timeline established: The commission set a goal of completing all proposed amendments and submitting them to the supervisors by July, with final adoption of the updated SALDO before year-end 2017.
